Red-bellied piranhas are found in the Amazon river basin where they feed on a wide variety of food including small fish, insects, nuts, seeds and fruits! Contrary to popular belief, piranhas don’t usually eat live humans. In fact, people have been known to wade in piranha territory and emerge unscathed.
Check out our piranhas in action for yourself during their weekly token feedings (Saturdays, 2pm*) at the River Safari’s Amazon Flooded Forest!
